A LITTLE ABOUT US:

The Coventry Lake Water Ski Club (CLWSC) provides an environment for individuals and families to learn how to water ski or improve their skills while both having fun and being safe on the water.  As such, both skier and non-skiers are welcome to join the club. Two-ski, slalom ski, show ski, kneeboard,  wakeboard, and barefoot skills are learned and practiced.
A simple pyramid-anyone can do it!!!

The club has several programs in which the members are able to focus their interests in a specific area.

SKIER DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

The objective of the CLWSC Skier Development Program is to provide entry level ski lessons to the public and club members to further develop their skiing skills and enable them to move on to one of the more specialized divisions.  This program also offers "learn to ski" clinics and recreational skiing sessions to both members and the public.  In addition to learning how to water ski, Development Program attendees learn leadership, teamwork and communication skills as they learn about water sports safety, learn how to crew a water ski boat, and about the benefits of water skiing and water sports in general.

CLWSC's 2 HOUR INTRODUCTORY SESSION:

Non members, can come try out 2 hour introductory session on Wednesday at 6 pm. See Skier Development Page for info.

THE SHOW SKI PROGRAM

Have you ever watched ballet dancers, gymnasts, or cheerleaders doing pyramids and wondered how difficult it is to complete such acts that involve strength, balance and grace?  The Show Ski Program incorporates all of those, all while on one or two skis!  The purpose of the Show Ski Team Program is fourfold:  (1) To provide an entertaining show for the benefit of the club and the general public in order to display the skills that the ski team develops through practices and clinics, (2) To develop leadership, teambuilding, communication and self-esteem of the members of the club using show skiing as the medium; (3) to develop individuals and teams that are capable and willing to compete at the local, regional, and national level, and (4) educate the public on the benefits of waterskiing and water sports in general.

THE SLALOM SKI PROGRAM

The Slalom Ski Program is dedicated to promoting the development of water skiers capable of skiing the slalom course.  The slalom course consists of six buoys, or "turn balls", spaced out evenly, three to a side, along an 850 foot course.  A Boat Path runs up the middle of this course and boats travel through it at speeds up to 36 MPH, pulling the skier as they attempt to negotiate their way through the entrance gate, around the turn balls, and back out the entrance gate.  Seems easy?  the skier can reach speeds approaching 70 MPH when they are heading across the course, and as slow as 12 MPH in the turns.  This the skier does 6 times in about 17 seconds.  The Slalom Ski Program allows those members interesting in skiing the course the opportunity to do so.  In addition to learning to run the course, individuals learn leadership, teambuilding and communication techniques as they work with other members of the club to learn water sports safety, how to crew a water ski boat, and how to maintain the various pieces of equipment during all slalom sessions.
